Mind Matters

Using digital design to create a web application to help aid someone with a medical condition

MindMatters is an iPad application created to make daily life easier for people living with the early stages of Alzheimer's disease and the people who care for them to help create conversation, share memories and participate in a range of activities. Patients can engage in a range of cognitive exercises. These are proven by research to help aid patients to actually slow the effects of Alzheimer's disease, whilst also helping to combat the sense of confusion or loneliness. Patient activities range from a photo book to share memories, a multi-level quiz testing diverse topics, a piano to create musical pieces as part of a creative cognitive exercise and a painting canvas with three options for the patient to express their creativity. The carers area of the application includes a journal allowing incidents to be conveyed and shared with a medical professional at a later date.
