Whipsmiths' Ice Cream Stall
New ice cream stall design
Working in collaboration with Whipsmiths, a new ice cream stall has been designed. Whipsmiths create customised ice cream instantly in front of customers using liquid nitrogen at events on an ice cream stall. The process is theatrical and customers love to watch the nitrogen as it evaporates from the ice cream machine. The main aim of the project was to make the process more streamlined for the operator and customer. The new design allows two colleagues to smoothly operate the stall through the entire journey: transportation, set up, trade and de-rig, with no discomfort. This has been done by using human factor applications to optimise each stage, fitting the task to the human rather than the human to the task. Furthermore, tasks required during trade have been simplified and the equipment has been spread across two stalls. This two-stall design makes business sense as it will be easier to franchise.
