Origami Construction Toy
Peeko is an origami construction toy targeted at children aged between 3-5 years old. The project focuses on the primary aim to help maximise time between the working parent and the child, provoking positive, continual development of social interaction skills through the mode of co-construction, free-customisation and game play. Influenced by the art of Japanese paper folding, Peeko's disassembled parts are connected together using the colour snap-fit system to create two cubes for the head and the body. The project's secondary aim looks to encourage independent creativity through the inclusion of a various magnetic facial and body features, which can adhere to all exposed surfaces, as well as a dry-wipe face to provoke personal creative output to create a unique Peeko creature. Continual interaction is achieved through the integration of feature cards, evolving the creation of Peeko into a game, provoking competitive social play between users.
