Sustainably reinventing the coffee cup
Disposable coffee cups cannot be recycled and therefore end up in landfill where they will still be in hundreds of years' time. There are a number of reusable coffee cups on the market, all aiming to aid in the reduction of waste but most of these do not fit in easily with the users everyday habits - they are bulky, prone to leakage and after use, the user has to carry it with them for the remainder of the day. This project aimed to overcome both the environmental issues with disposable cups as well as problems linked with reusable cups. The 'Armadillo' has a biodegradable, single-use inner lining and a reusable outer shell. This shell does not come into contact with the liquid and so is a more hygienic alternative to current solutions whilst being compact enough to be carried around between uses.
