Improving the lives of young carers
A young carer is someone aged 18 or under who helps to look after a relative who has a disability, illness, mental health condition, or a drug or alcohol problem. Being a young carer can have a profound effect on a young person. The responsibility of a caring role means that they often miss out on opportunities that other children have. Care Buddy is a service that aims to improve the lives of Young Carers. Care Buddy matches young carers to trained buddies, who can help with anything from emotional support, to daily chores, to the physical task of caring. The service also offers a helpful app that facilitates communication between carers, care receivers, and Buddies, ensuring all members of a caring network are connected.
