Developing a hedge cutter with the capability of collecting and disposing of hedge trimmings
This project is a system designed to clean up the waste produced when cutting hedges with traditional method hedge cutters. The system uses the application of an Archimedes screw to extract the hedge debris and trimmings from underneath the blades of the cutter, dimensioned to maximise the waste per minute that the system can accommodate. This system is designed to be a standalone system that includes the hedge cutter and the extraction system in a single body. The reason for this is to make the extraction system able to be orientated for either left or right handed use, and for use when cutting the top of hedges as well. Lastly, in addition to the extraction of hedge trimmings, the screw is intended to partially cut up and grind them for easy composting and storage.
