Improving seating comfort in the working environment
The 'Up-Down Seat' attaches to a standard low budget office chair with four nuts and bolts. The seat enables the user an easy, comfortable and enjoyable experience when attempting to sit and stand. A gas strut positioned underneath compresses with the user's weight, this potential energy is then exerted through the struts extension as the user begins to stand. The weight setting can be adjusted by simply pulling on the rear strap until it clicks. The seat aims to improve the user's comfort within a working environment; mobility issues can affect a worker, not only physically but mentally as they can feel ashamed to require help. Removing the stigma of products being solely for 'elderly people' from the chair would open it up to a wider demographic including a younger generation. This was achieved by maintaining the chair's recognisable appearance, whilst providing the additional functionality.
