Noise controlling system for collaborative working spaces
Noise nuisance is one of the main issues of the existing office layouts which affects employees' wellbeing and ultimately impacts the business negatively in the long term. Studies based on noise nuisance in work environments conclude that intelligible speech from co-workers may result in a decrease of productivity up to %66. In the future this will become a more significant problem as the office layouts will be structured based on 'sharing space together' where people will not have boundaries between individual and collaborative work. A user friendly interactive noise controller system has been designed to keep low levels of noise nuisance. Unlike other noise controlling solutions in the market, this system focuses on minimizing the noise at the source, offering a more affordable option. It also provides more control to users rather than producing an automated response. A Zessy will be located on every desk within a common work area. The system constantly waits for at least one user to activate the device. Upon activation the system will check if there is any desk(s) that is generating noise above a certain threshold, and if so it will produce a visual warning.
