Water is an integral part of any household and people are not always conscious of the quantity of water they consume. To help households reduce water consumption, this Smart Shower has been designed. It features an integrated flow meter that monitors water consumption and displays it in real-time on a wireless digital controller. When the shower is switched on, the flow of water generates electricity to power the colour changing LEDs on the showerhead and the digital controller. During the first two minutes the showerhead glows green, as the water consumption increases the light changes to amber and gradually to red. After five minutes it automatically turns off. This encourages the user to shower within five minutes, therefore reducing their water consumption and promoting a sustainable behaviour towards water.
