Customers should not be told their actions are wasteful in the hope this will lead to change, they should be given tools and incentives instead. The aim of this major project is to build a useful tool that can help people reduce food waste. Food waste is caused when too much is bought and when it is not used in time. By calculating the amount of food to be bought with the number of people to be served in mind, overbuying could be reduced. By presenting the number of days until a food goes off reminds the user to consume items more efficiently.
