A hybrid of mono and dual shock suspension
The team of three motorsport engineering students took forward the basic concept to a higher level. This evolved into a unique system to enhance the on-track performance of single seater race cars during high speed cornering.
The design is a hybrid between mono and dual shock suspension, and enables roll-damping and pitch damping characteristics better than conventional suspension set-ups. This eliminates the need for anti-roll bars used widely in existing suspension configurations.
The major advantage of this system is its compact design, which can be assembled on a majority of space frame chassis with minor, or no, modifications. Low cost comparison to conventional systems and ease of customisation according to requirement are other favourable factors.
The team is currently working to incorporate a similar system in passenger cars.
