I am a keen designer who is willing to get stuck into any design challenge thrown at me. Though this course has taught me a great deal of things about many aspects of design, my strongest skills are in branding and graphic communication for digital or print.

PBFA Garden Kneeler

Inclusive design for products that have been overlooked

Recent figures state that in the UK alone, over two billion pounds are spent in garden centres every year. The current basic garden kneeler has been a million pound selling product for PBFA and Marks & Spencer in previous years, however its design has since become quite dated. The garden equipment sector that the kneeler resides in has great potential in relation to changing demographics, their interest in gardening and the profile of the M&S customer. This is the basis for the study. The product has been taken back to its roots and has undergone a fresh and dynamic re-design, interweaving improved aesthetic values with crucial inclusive and semantic design aspects that have previously been overlooked.
