Increasing the performance of an aircraft using morphing wing technology
The project aim was to retrofit a model aircraft with Morphing wings and no conventional roll control surfaces.
A variable (retractable) wingspan was chosen, with warping wingtips for roll control.
This idea was chosen as if had the potential to offer multiple performance increase compared to the baseline aircraft. It should be able to increase the maximum speed, manoeuvrability and endurance of the aircraft.
When the wings of the aircraft are retracted, the increase in the aircrafts performance compared to the baseline should be noticed.
