Numerical Design of Landing Gear System
Modelling and analysis of a landing gear system for the A320 aircraft family. One of the main features of the project deals with cross-wind landings. Landing in these conditions can often be a problem, and cause major damage to the gears, resulting in eventual failure.
A proposed method aims to reduce the torsional loading on the landing gear during cross-wind landings, by implementing a system that will line the wheels up with the direction of the landing strip, and gradually align the aircraft, once landed, for minimum torsional stress.
This system will aid landings and ensure the gears to not experience forces greater than those to potentially cause damage, and will also improve current safety of these dangerous landing manoeuvres.
