BR-11 Electric Superbike

BR-11 Electric Superbike

Design of the BR-11 Electric Superbike

The project involved the design and manufacture of an electric superbike. The donor bike, a 2009 Yamaha YZF R6, was adapted to become the first road legal prototype bike developed by Brunel. The project involved all areas of mechanical engineering and design including, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical part design, simulation, manufacturing and testing. The project involved investigation and design of a unique KERS package and a two stage performance switch.

The final outcome of the project was a working prototype of the design, which is ready for extensive road testing and development. Alongside fulfilling the design brief, the project also aimed to allow students in the next few years to continue the development of the bike, enabling Brunel to further its knowledge of electrically powered vehicles.
