AFFA (Adjustable Frequency Fire Alarm)

AFFA is an inclusively designed alarm to rouse people who are deaf or hard of hearing from their sleep in the event of a fire. It takes into account peoples specific hearing capabilities by allowing the alarm frequency to be adjusted to whatever is most appropriate. This RNID-supported project targets the needs of over 9 million people in the UK. Optional strobe lighting and vibrating pad attachments ensure that the alarm will not go unnoticed. AFFA uses a wireless system to monitor the other AFFA units around it, and when any AFFA is triggered, all of them will sound. This reduces response time, which is critical in an emergency, and gives people a more secure and comfortable nights sleep.
